I am 67 and pretty well out of shape. Bought this bike from our local bike shop after much consideration. I intend using the bike on a daily basis and slowly building up my stamina so's I can pedal down to our local village which is an approximate 12 km. trip. All this in preparation for a cross-country trip on my 70th birthday! Wishful thinking perhaps? Anyways, I love the way this bike handles and the gears are a cinch to use. Also, feel much more secure at faster speeds with the wider set of wheels, very responsive brakes and easy handling. A pleasure to ride.

          Comments:

Walking into my local Trek store, I expressed interest in a "comfort bike that I could beat up a little." I was led to the dual-sport bikes, but they were more aggressive than I was looking for. After trying a Verve comfort bike, I spied this Shift 2 and insisted on a test ride. Sold, instantly. I'm 6'0. I have been looking for a good multipurpose bike since I grew out of my BMX/Freestyle 15 years ago. For casual street riding, this bike feels like a throwback to an old-school BMX, yet the front-end suspension handles bumps and light terrain much to the comfort of the distinctive adult . I live in Florida and we have tons of gravel/sand/grass service roads that lead to beautiful scenery, and this bike handles them with ease and speed. Fun, fun, fun!

          Comments:

I've had the bike a couple/few weeks now. Took it out for several rides of 5 to 7 miles each. No problems, everything works very well. Nice and quite, comfortable riding position although the seats a little stiff after mile 3 or 4. Maybe the seat will get better once it's broken in a little more.

Have together time with the family on outings. Go for a quick ride at night with my wife and talk about family matters. The comfortable riding position of the shift2 makes it a joy to ride. Riding this bike comes to mind before getting in a vehicle to go places. My wife and I bought the shift2 for each other for our anniversary. The first week end we had them we put 35 miles on them with our children. What a great bike

          Ride upright in comfort

          Pros

          Cons

            Best Uses

            • Well-maintained Trails
            • Street rides

            Comments:

This bike is great if you prefer sitting upright, rather than bent over the handlebars in a racing position. Large padded seat and shocks make it very comfortable. Although it is not rated for trails, it should do well on well-maintained trails, e.g., canal trails or rail-to-trail trails. In that regard, I wish the bike came with knobby dirt bike-type tires; I would feel more confident on street or trail with knobby tires. Also, large 3rd gear does not provide much power on downhills. Otherwise, great bike.
